Özet
The earth has been faced a serious problem exemplified by diminishing water sources. Rapidly increasing population has prepared a background to end of nonrenewable resources as well as pollution of water sources. Although, Turkey has a peninsula characteristics with surrounding seas, and has abundance of water sources, factors such as irregular industrialization, careless consumption of water, rapidly growing population and pollution of natural resources cause serious and unrecoverable damages. In this study, some threats in the Kelkit Basin were preliminarily determined by using geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing tools which improved the abilities of researchers on decision making stage in many disciplines in the last decades.
