| Aim: This randomized controlled study was conducted in order to determine the effects of training and medication reminder wristwatch on treatment adherence in geriatric hypertensive patients. Material and Methods: The study was performed in a Family Health Center between April 2019 and November 2020. A power analysis was carried out to determine the sample size and the study was completed 30 training and reminder by watch (experiment), 30 education (experiment) and 30 control group total of 90 hypertensive patients. The data were collected with face-to-face interview method using the Standardized Mini Mental Test, survey form, Hypertension Information Form, Antihypertensive Medication Adherence Scale and Medication Adherence Self-efficacy Scale Short Form. Patients in the experimental group received training on hypertension and treatment adherence, blood pressure monitoring and telephone consulting service. In addition, patients in this group put on a medication reminder wristwatch. No intervention was carried out for the patients in the control group. Data were analyzed using number, percentage, mean, Chi-square, Fisher's exact, McNemar, Wilcoxon, Kruskal Wallis paired two samples t test and one-way variance analysis. Results: It was found that the mean Hypertension Information Form scores were low in the experimental and control groups, while these scores significantly increased after the education (p< 0.05).
