Diacid esters of 1-dodecanol as new alternatives to solid-liquid phase change materials for solar heat storage systems

Özet
Ester-based phase change materials for heat storage have been an origin of interest for the last 2 decades due to their ease of production, different temperature options offered by the product, and the solutions they offered for the handicaps in the potential fatty acid and fatty alcohol thermal energy storage materials. In this study, synthesis, and characterization of 1-dodecanol esters of adipic acid, succinic acid, and oxalic acid were carried out. The novel esters were proven by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy techniques. In addition, the thermophysical properties of the synthesized esters were analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) methods.
