| Özet |
| Aim: The aim of this methodological study was to analyze the validity and reliability of the Turkish adaptation of the Self-Efficacy Scale originally developed by Lechner, de Vries, and Offermans. Methods: The adapted scaled was administered to 92 women, grouped according to age and educational status. The data was collected using a socio-demographic data form and a seven item modified Self-Efficacy Scale. Results: Cronbach's Alpha coeffient was.84, indicating high internal consistency in responses. Both the validity and reliability of the modified Self-Efficacy Scale were found to be high. Conclusions: We propose that this scale can be used in the evaluation of self-efficacy perception in Turkish society. Self-efficacy scores may be predictive of participation in early diagnosis screening programs. Moreover, this scale could be used to help design programs and develop strategies to increase early detection behaviors like breast selfexamination, mammography, and Pap smears. |
