Özet
In this study, the thoughts of the thirty gifted and talented students within the age group of 8-14, who are ongoing to Samsun Science and Art Center, towards Social Studies lesson have tried to be determined with using the method of metaphor analysis. In order to determine thoughts of students, who involved in the study, towards Social Studies lesson, they were asked to complete following sentences:“Social Studies..... such as/similar to. Because.....” Content analysis is used for analyzing and interpreting of data. The gifted students have created 50 metaphors which toward Social Studies lesson. Metaphors, which were obtained, have been listed alphabetically. Frequency and percentage of students' numbers, which are represented to each metaphor, has been calculated. Some of metaphors that have became prominent are these: Life, education, mind, human, entertainment, source of life, social studies. Metaphor images, which have became prominent in the other phase of the study, have been divided into five main conceptual categories. These categories have been determined as mind, knowledge, education, life and knowledge of life/social studies. In conclusion, The gifted students have shown that they believed necessity and importance of the Social Sciences lesson as a lesson lifelike
