Özet
Background: In the absence of the coronary artery disease (CAD), left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) appears to be the main link between hypertension and ventricular arrhythmias (VA). Myocardial fibrosis is a key pathological feature of myocardial remodeling in LVH. Fragmented QRS (fQRS) on a 12-lead ECG has been shown to represent myocardial scar in patients with CAD. Myocardial fibrosis may also alter QRS morphology and lead to fragmentation of QRS on 12-lead ECG in patient with hypertension. We therefore postulated that the prevalence of fQRS is increased and it is associated with VA in hypertensive patients.Methods: Patients with newly diagnosed or previous history of hypertension were included.
