Özet
The purpose of this study is to gather views of students about the metacognitive reading strategies instruction. The sample of the study was consisted of thirty students attending ninth grade in 2016-2017 academic year in a district located at the Middle Black Sea region. A case study pattern which is a qualitative method was used in the research. Semi structured interview and a course evaluation form developed by the researchers were used to gather the views of the students related to metacognitive reading strategies instruction. Semi structured interviews were conducted with seventeen students. A course evaluation form was also filled by sampling group after every reading passage and at the end of the instruction. MAXQDA 12 qualitative analysis program was used to descriptive analysis of qualitive data of semi structured interview. The course evaluation form was also analyzed by using descriptive analysis method. The results of semi structured interview and course evaluation form also showed that students had views that metacognitive reading strategies instruction increased their metacognitive awareness and self efficacy for reading in English.
