| Türkçe Özet | GRAFEN OKSİT VE TİTANYUM DİOKSİT KATKILI BULK FİLL AKIŞKAN KOMPOZİTİN ANTİBAKTERİYEL VE MEKANİK ÖZELLİKLERİNİN KARŞILAŞTIRILMASIAmaç: Bu çalışmada, akışkan bulk fill kompozit rezine eklenen grafen oksit (GO)ve titanyum dioksit (TiO2) nanopartiküllerinin materyal özelliklerinde oluşturduğu değişikliklerin incelenmesi hedeflenmiştir. |
| İlgilizce Özet | COMPARISON OF THE ANTIBACTERIAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF GRAPHENE OXIDE AND TITANIUM DIOXIDE MODIFIED BULK FILL FLOWABLE COMPOSITEObjective: This study aimed to investigate the changes in the material properties of a flowable bulk-fill composite resin caused by the addition of graphene oxide (GO) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles.Materials and Methods: In the first stage, experimental groups were formed by adding graphene oxide (GO) and titanium dioxide (TiO₂) nanoparticles at 0.1% and 0.5% concentrations to a flowable bulk-fill composite resin. In this context, a total of 7 groups, including the control group and groups containing GO, TiO₂, and GO+TiO₂, were prepared, and the specimens were obtained using standard molds. A flowable bulk-fill composite resin was used as the restorative material. Surface roughness and microhardness measurements were performed for all specimens, and intergroup comparisons were made. Antibacterial properties were evaluated by a direct contact test using Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus plantarum. Specimen surfaces and bacterial adhesion were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The obtained data were analyzed using appropriate statistical methods. Results: The GO 0.5% group showed the lowest surface roughness, whereas the TiO₂ 0.5% group exhibited the highest surface roughness. While TiO₂ addition increased surface roughness, GO, particularly at the 0.5% concentration, reduced this value. In the combined groups, surface roughness values were found to be close to those of the control group. In terms of microhardness, the highest value was obtained in the TiO₂ 0.1% group, whereas the lowest value was observed in the GO 0.5% + TiO₂ 0.5% group. While TiO₂ addition generally increased microhardness, GO showed a reducing effect, especially at the higher concentration. In the antibacterial evaluation, no significant differences were found among the groups for either S. mutans or L. plantarum. SEM examinations revealed bacterial adhesion on the surfaces, and a decrease in S. mutans adhesion was also noted in the presence of L. plantarum.viiiConclusion: In conclusion, the addition of TiO₂ increased the microhardness of the flowable bulk-fill composite, whereas at higher concentrations it also increased surface roughness. In contrast, the addition of GO, particularly at the 0.5% concentration, reduced surface roughness but decreased microhardness. From an antibacterial perspective, GO, TiO₂, and their combined additions did not show a statistically significant effect against S. mutans or L. plantarum. The observed reduction in the surface adhesion of S. mutans in the presence of L. plantarum suggests that the interaction between these two species may limit adhesion during the early stages of biofilm formation. |
