| The lucerne beetle, Gonioctena fornicata (Brüggeman) (Coleopteran: Chrysomelidae) causes significant damages on alfalfa. Both adults and larvae eat the leaves, flowers, leaf buds, young shoots and leaf stalks of alfalfa. Biological control methods are environmentally safe and friendly ways of controlling this pest. Entomopathogenic fungi are promising biocontrol agents for this pest under field conditions. At the present study, control potential of the entomopathogenic Beauveria bassiana isolate (GOPT-228) were tested against adults of G. fornicata at five different concentrations (1×103, 1×105, 1×107, 1×108, and 1×109 spores/ml). The experiment was laid out in completely randomized block design with 5 replications and replicated 2 times. Mortalities were recorded on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th days of incubation. Dead insects were transferred in humid sterile 90 mm glass petri dishes for 14 days to determine … |
