| Özet |
| In parallel with the economic policies which have been put into practice in our country since 1980s, the break-down of rural population has gained momentum and cities have become subject to a consistent stream of migration from rural areas. Rural migration makes its weight felt in state affairs as an important social question in terms of the negative consequences that it has brought on. In this paper, the factors causing rural migration, which has reached high levels in Turkey and has given rise to deep problems, is estimated particularly for Yeşilyurt by Bivariate Probit Model. According to the consequences of the research; in the case of Yeşilyurt, rural migration is caused by the attractive urban factors (employment opportunities, sending children to school, transportation, health facilities) and more importantly repulsive rural factors (inadequate income, poverty, split of fields by heritage, marketing problems of products, no opportunities for nonfarm payroll employment, inadequate educational and health facilities).
