Özet
This study aimed to determine the support and contribution of local governments towards the solution of environmental problems. The data was obtained from 19 local units of government in Tokat province of Turkey in 2004 were analyzed by factor analysis. The pollution caused by the over-crowded unpleasant view by orderless traffic occurred as the most serious environmental problem. The staff of local governmental offices appeared in favor of cooperating to solve environmental problems. We concluded that an effective measure against the environmental problems should be accomplished through enhancing public awareness and ensuring contributions of all parties concerned. © 2006 Asian Network for Scientific Information.
