Özet
During surveys of plant parasitic nematodes, moderate to severe root-knot infection was observed on the roots of pepper (Capsicum annuum), tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) and watermelon (Citrullus vulgaris [Citrullus lanatus]) growing in the greenhouse and field in the provinces of Eskișehir, Burdur and Isparta in Turkey. The watermelon roots were observed with typical root-knot swelling. On the basis of perineal pattern of mature females, these were identified as Meloidogyne javanica. Watermelon appeared to be a new host of the root-knot nematode in Turkey. The distribution and host association of Meloidogyne spp. in Turkey are given.
