| Özet |
| Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an autosomal recessive hereditary disease primarily concerning the respiratory and gastrointestinal system. CF presents various clinical signs and symptoms because it is a disease involving more than one system. The severity of findings varies from child to child and according to patient age, involved systems and the severity of the disease. Most of the children with CF live to adulthood, but they have to live a chronic life with deteriorated health for many years. Laborious and expensive daily treatment and care affect the life quality of family and child negatively. For this reason, a multidisciplinary team approach is necessary for the treatment and care of this multisystemic disease. Pediatric nurses are in a primary team member position in providing and maintaining care. The main purpose of nursing care to be given is to facilitate the child and the parents’ adaptation to the chronic illness and help provide maximum quality of life. Nursing care includes providing optimal care and family centered care, and regular and constant educational activities by minimizing the effects of the disease on the child, particularly respiratory system and gastrointestinal system. The following review was formed to understand cystic fibrosis, plan the care and implement the nursing practices by aiming to guide pediatric nurses. Therefore, it will be possible to provide and sustain knowledge-based and evidence based nursing care, and increase the quality of care |
