Effect of H. perforatum oil containing membranes on the second degree burn wounds in rats

Özet
Burn is one of the most frequently occurring cases of skin injury which needs immediate medical intervention. The aim of this study is quick and efficient therapy of second degree burns using H.perforatum oil releasing polymeric membranes. 35 adult Wistar Albino rats were used for in vivo experiments. Second degree burn wounds were created on the dorsal side of the rats using a preheated brass rod. Wound zones were photographed and wound areas was calculated on 1st, 4th, 7th, 11th and 16th days of wound formation. Situation of the wound zones were evaluated macroscopically. No adverse effects were met during treatment. At the end of experiment, skin wound zone was dissected with neighbor healthy tissues.
