Prospective elementary teachers' images of environmental pollution

Özet
The purpose of this study is determined to prospective elementary teachers’ opinion about environmental pollution and the images of environmental pollution. The study was conducted with participation of 2th year pre-service elementary teachers (N= 43). The qualitative research was employed in this study. The teacher candidates were asked to draw a picture about environmental pollution and were asked to interpret these pictures. Data was analyzed by contend analysis. The data were obtained from research that was explained 3 category which types of environmental pollution (air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, radioactive pollution and noise pollution), affected by environmental pollution (people, plants, animals, climate and inanimate beings) and those who cause of environmental pollution (Directly caused by people, man-made resources and natural resources). As a result of contend analysis the frequency of the objects contained in images drawn by teacher candidates were analyzed; we determined that drawing about air pollution, soil pollution, and water pollution were repeated. In the drawings, people and other livings thihnks were affected by environmental pollution and people and human resources that cause environmental pollution. Determinations of the frequency of objects in each drawing and incomplete learning or misconception about environmental pollution were determined.
