Özet
Objective Recent studies have reported that red blood cell distribution width (RDW) levels could be increased in some cardiovascular disorders including heart failure, stable coronary disease, acute coronary syndrome, stroke and in some non-cardiovascular diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, colon cancer and celiac disease. We aimed to investigate the relation between RDW and newly diagnosed deep vein thrombosis (DVT) patients. Methods Newly diagnosed 50 consecutive patients with deep vein thrombosis in lower extremities and 50 healthy patients matched with age and sex were retrospectively examined. The relationship between RDW levels and DVT has been assessed. Results RDW levels were higher in patient with DVT than in healthy (15.29±1.5 vs. 13.58±0.85, p< 0.01).
