Özet
PurposeWith the deterioration of the global monetary discipline that emerged with the collapse of the Bretton Woods system, the hegemonic power of the US dollar started to be questioned again. At the end of these processes, a different approach to central banking came to the agenda. This study aims to analyze this process and reveal the new central banking paradigm shifts. Design/methodology/approachQualitative research techniques are used. Information about monetary policy practices and central banking from the Bretton Woods System to the present day will be given with a descriptive approach. FindingsAs a result of the research, it has been determined that after the collapse of the monetary policy system based on the fixed exchange rate regime that emerged with the implementation of the Bretton Woods system, a different monetary policy process started and a transformation to independent central banking, which has become an indispensable element of modern central banking, has been experienced.
