Özet
Population development of Pentamerismus oregonensis McGregor, 1949 (Acari: Tenuipalpidae) was investigated in three different parks (Dostlar Park, Halkali Agricultural School and Özgürlük Park) in Istanbul, on Cupressus arizonica Green (Cupressaceae) during 2006-2007 years. Pentamerismus oregonensis individuals were hibernates in female stage in the crevices and hidden places of the trees. They began to move to the blossoms of the plants at the beginning of April. Females laid their eggs on the feeding place of the youngs In general higher scarlet mite populations were observed during June, August and October all three locations of the study area, it has determined 0.66; 0.83 and 0.53 mite/shoot in Dostlar Park, Halkali Agricultural School and Özgü rlük Park respectively in in Agust 2007. The data shows that the mite population reached its peak by the end of May and after this, mite population levels become lower, population keep on increase until reached its peak by mid of August. Mite population generally has been seen in low density during the summer months. Cupressus arizonica and Cedrus atlantica (Endl.) were the most preferred host plants for the P. oregonensis. During surveys on predators of P. oregonensis, four phytoseiids; Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) recki Wainstein, Typhlodromus (Typhlodromus) athiasae Porath and Swirski, Neoseiulus insularis (Athias-Henriot), Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) bagdasarjani Wainstein & Arutunjan), one melicharid (Proctolaelaps pygmaeus Muller), and 9 Coccinellidae (Coloeoptera) species were recognized as natural enemies.
