| Özet |
| A formulaic expression is a group of cliché phrases that are frequently used in a particular language and are usually uttered in accordance with a particular situation, context or need. These expressions enable language learners to communicate fluently and confidently in a new language. They also reinforce their ability to communicate accurately and effectively in cultural and social contexts. Turkish, in particular, is among the languages that contain the most formulaic language units in its vocabulary. In this context, a word game that is thought to contribute to the learning process by attracting the attention of learners of Turkish as a foreign language has been produced. Accordingly, the aim of the study is to teach formulaic expressions by using games in teaching Turkish to foreigners. Phenomenology, one of the qualitative research designs, was used. The data were collected using an interview after four weeks of game implementation. According to the analyses, teaching the formulaic expressions with a game made the difficult task easier. Student opinions were that the game used in the application was fun, exciting, instructive, thoughtprovoking, energetic, useful, motivational and competitive. Additionally, the results obtained from the interviews indicate that the game taught in a lasting, easy, and enjoyable way and improved speaking skills. It can be suggested that (D) ilim game should be used especially in teaching formulaic expressions and vocabulary. |
