Özet
The Iridaceae family, which is distributed cosmopolitically, is represented by 77 genera and 1655 species spread over various parts of the world, especially in the Mediterranean region [1]. In Turkey, Iris, Gynandriris, Romulea, Gladiolus, Crocus, and Hermodactylus, which include six genera and families, are important economically, and about 86 species have medical value [1]. Many species of the Iris genus are used in the treatment of various diseases among the population. In particular, their sub-ground rhizomes are widely used in Chinese medicine to prevent fever, for detoxifying, and to treat throat infections.The rhizome iridis (which is peeled and dried rhizomes of Iris) has laxative and expectorant properties [2]. It is also widely used in the perfume and cosmetics industry. Iris orientalis Mill. is a white flower and has a large yellow spot in the center of the leaves.
