Özet
The purpose of this study was to evaluate different organic and inorganic insecticides for controlling bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera (Hübn.)) on tomato cultivar Alida F1 in field conditions. The field experiment was carried out at Agricultural Faculty Research Station in Tokat Province during the 2006 and 2007 growing season. Transplanting in double rows took place on 7 April 2006 and 2007 at a density of about 29400 plants ha-1. Spacing within rows and between double rows were 0.5 and 1.2 m, respectively. Experimental design was randomized block design with four replication in order to find out the possibility of pheromone traps in observing the population range of H. armigera and to determine the timing of spraying to control H. armigera damage. Two pheromone traps were placed in the tomato field. Bollworm damage rates were evaluated on 100 leaves and fruit collected randomly at 15 days interval starting from June first. While in 2006 growing period, average bollworm damage was1. 93% on fruit in Bacillus thuringiensis treatment, it was 1.6% in insecticide treatment. On the other hand, in 2007 growing period, average bollworm damage was 0.07% on fruit in Bacillus thuringiensis treatment. Results of the peresent study revealed that Bacillus thuringiensis application can control the bollworm at similar level as it seen in insecticide treatment. There was no significant difference between Bacillus thuringiensis and insecticide treatments. So, Bacillus thuringiensis can be used instead of insecticide to manage bollworm in tomato.
