Özet
Medicinal plants against pathogenic microorganisms are used in the treatment-oriented drug industry. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effects of Lepidium draba L. extracts such as hexane, methanol and n-butanol on some bacteria and fungi. Agar spot method was used for antimicrobial activities. Methanol extract exhibited the bactericidal effect against Bacillus cereus and Salmonella enteritidis with the inhibition zone of 6 and 11 mm respectively at 100 mg/ml. The methanol extract revealed the good effect on Candida utilis with the inhibition zone diameter of 10 and 18 mm at 10, 100 mg/ml respectively as well. On the other hand, hexane and n-butanol extracts did not present the considerable activity on microbial cells. The antioxidant activity including 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical (DPPH•) scavenging, 2, 2ʺ-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) cation radical (ABTS•+) scavenging and reducing power activities were carried out. The methanol extract displayed the good DPPH• scavenging effect (IC50, 10.75, μg/mL) and ABTS•+ scavenging activity (IC50, 6.64, μg/mL). In addition, this extract had a reducing power capacity (3.37 μmol TE/g extract). L. draba could be a promising candidate material for pharmaceutical industry.
