| The rise in fuel prices increases transportation costs. Particularly users of heavy vehicles carrying freight and passengers are more affected by these costs. Therefore, although it has negative impacts on vehicle performance and emissions, users with higher profits prefer to use unauthorized fuels, which are called illegal diesel oil or number ten oil. Due to the illegal sale of these fuels, the state suffers a great tax loss and the economy of the country is damaged. In addition, the damages of these fuels, engine and fuel system cause frequent failure of engine and fuel systems and increase of spare parts used. Besides, it is called as number 10 lube but inside; solvent, thinner, base oil, etc. The use of mixtures containing substances in vehicles increases the risk of fire in the vehicle due to the combustion and glare properties of these substances. Especially in the summer, these fuels are among the causes of vehicle fires carrying cargo and passengers. It is very difficult to control the fuels used in road vehicles. Therefore, the control of the vendors should be ensured. In this study, the status of the use of oil number ten in recent years has been examined. Especially since 2012, with the increase in inspections and the regulation in taxation, it has been determined that the number 10 lube price has increased and its economy has decreased. However, the use of the number ten oil is not completely terminated. In Istanbul alone, 655 thousand 209 liters of illegal fuel was seized in the first three months of 2019. |
