Özet
This study aims to examine relevant factors and attitudes on food purchasing among residents of Tokat Central County in Turkey. In total, 277 consumers were asked a group of questions that evaluated experiences, knowledge and attitudes related to food buying, consumption, food security and quality, as well as relevant sociodemographic variables. Factor analysis was used in order to determine important points which are given attention when buying food products. Analyses showed that the factors that explain the knowledge level and attitudes of the consumers when buying food products were nutritional value, package, brand, saturator foods, production and last consumption date, production processes, hygienic status of the store, and other health factors. Such factors should be taken into consideration in the formation of consistent and sustainable food product policies in the country.
