Özet
Due to manual measurement and qualified staff requirements for measuring the amount of evaporation from class A pan, it takes more time and causes measurement precision to be low. In this study, the distance perpendicular to the surface of a datum level (depth) was measured with ultrasonic sensors (sound waves), the measured distance was compared to the read values by micrometer depth gauge. The read values from both ultrasonic sensor and micrometer depth gauge have been tested on Irrigation and Drainage Laboratory of Gaziosmanpașa University, Faculty of Agriculture, Biosystems Engineering Department. As a result, the evaporation of up to 3.5 cm, determination coefficient R2=0.94; and the evaporation of up to 4.2 cm was found a linear relationship with R2=0.71.
