Özet
Aim of the present study was to investigate metallurgical properties of pre-and post-weld heat treated and non-heat treated AISI 420 martensitic stainless steel joined using CO2 laser welding method. In addition, heat treated laser welded and base metal samples were immersed in Simulated Body Fluid (SBF) for 1, 3, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days, and apatite formations on base metal and on welding seam surface were studied. Corrosion properties on all samples immersed in SBF were determined based on weight loss method. Due to heat treatment process, corrosion sensitivity occurred by producing carbides, such as Cr23C6, M23C6, and decreasing local chromium content in the weld zone. In addition, weld heat input affected corrosion resistance.
